@mollymalone Said Years ago my dad had a shop and I was working in it. I could hear a hissing sound. As it was the Winter we had a gas fire on beside us.
Beside it there was a unit with bags of sugar in it. I thought a bag of sugar had burst and I bent down to listen if the noise was coming from there.
As I bent down the gas fire exploded and went up in flames. I ran out of the shop and up the stairs squealing that the shop was on fire.
We where taken into the house next door and my dad and other people tried to put out the fire until the fire brigade arrived.
My hair and eye brows where singed, but thankfully no one was hurt.
Its an experience I would not like to go through again and it must be awful to be burnt alive in a fire.
all i can say is "Wow!"... i am so glad you were not really hurt. what a blessing that as you bent down & they gas fire exploded, you were able to run away from it.
getting the hair & eye brows singed, that happened to my oldest sister. she was trying to light our gas oven. all i heard was a loud pop, and when i came into the kitchen, i saw her smacking her face/eye brow area. it freaked me out...

The family business - well only the main bldg was destroyed. They still have 2 more bldgs that have a majority of their inventory... so that's not too bad; but still a loss. Has anyone on TFS witness first hand a fire & in association with it? Care to share your experience? 
i'm not sure anyone has told her yet about her house & everything in it is gone for good
