are you sure it's windows messenger? it must be msn messenger. they are both completely different. windows messenger comes installed by default on your computer. if you go into add/remove programs, is msn messenger on the list?

Ok this is really strange.

In the installed programs list, there is no MSN messener or windows messenger.

Under 'installed windows components' Windows messenger is unchecked.

Under services, windows messenger is unchecked.

THere is no startup item for it...

Yet i'm still connected to it somehow!!

It must be because microsoft didn't check their code for bugs!

I'm thinking it might have to do with automatic updates.... I'll disable that i guess.

well i figured out how to not associate a .NET passport with my windows account so hopefully that took care of it.
