:( Not a good rest of life to come :(

Last night I made the fatal mistake of telling a really good friend of mine that I liked her more than a friend. Lets just say it didn't work out very well, she told me she didn't feel the same. Now things are going to be really really awkward between us, but I really couldn't actually live without her in my life as a really good friend.
She's helped me through so much. Is there anything I can possibly do to get our friendship back the way it was.

Say you were drunk and didnt mean it, explain that you actually meant you value her more than your other friends but not in a sexual way, just that she's very important to you and thats what you meant to say.

I could say I was drunk, but she knows that I was 100% sober lol, might give the second bit a shot though.

Probably best to just keep your head down for a while, don't be in her face but don't be absent either, see how she wants to deal with it, and go along if you can.
See how that works out, you can always decide on a new course for yourself at any time if you're uncomfortable with where it's going.

PS: One thing I DO know about the female of our species, they can spot an excuse at a thousand metres, and usually put a missile through it's eye! Don't make them, ever, "own" your actions, even the embarrassing ones, especially the embarrassing ones, you'll win more respect that way, in the long run.

Tell her you already have enough friends. There's no point in trying to be friends with a girl you are interested in romantically.

Yeah. just say she misunderstood you and you wanted to clear things up so it wouldnt be weird. Good luck mate.

Dont worry about it dude, suck it up and move on. Stay friends, but put it all down to experience. You wont be the first nor the last person to do that... I have done it about.... 4-5 times in my life.. the last time, I slept with her! and 4 years on I am still with her....

Personally. I wouldn't tell her that she missunderstood or that you didn't mean it.. what kind of flaky personw ould that make you.

Just send her a message, keep it upbeat, tell her you hope that you didn't embarrass her and that you meant what you said but you totally respect her choice and that you will always be there as a mate.

That way your taking the emphasis off her without being creepy about it

Oh and one more thing, as for the title, hun this isn't gonna ruin the rest of your life, believe me. In the grand scheme of things this won't even be a blip on life's radar.

We've all done similar things and all lived to tell the tale.

Every time you see her imagine her on the toilet. You'll get over her soon enough.

Yup I did it quite a few times. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My girlfriend was my friend for a year and a half, and my best friend for about half of that. So it does work sometimes.
