Sorry that's bulls***.

Mohammed didn't teach them that, try again.

Let me break in here, Katie. Give us a little more on why those statements don't hold water for you. I don't think any of us would even know how to begin to give a reasonable answer to your above comments. What do you mean, and what has it to do with any larger future confrontation with any kind of fanatical opponent. Whether any of us want to accept it or not, its likely that there will be a much larger confrontation driven by Islamic fanatics in the relatively near future. How do you propose to get around that?

Well if Islam demands every Muslim fight in the Jihad, why isn't every single Muslim out there running around mercilessly killing non-Muslims? The idea that every Muslim is an enemy of the west is, to put it bluntly, a crock of s***.

Onto your second point, the fact that more and more are turning to the Taliban and other terrorist organisations is for exactly the reasons the governments wanted to keep the fact that civilians are being slaughtered under wraps. I think if a foreign government invaded my country and was slaughtering innocent people I would get a bit pissed off, wouldn't you?

The entire 'war against terror' is doing nothing except turn more and more moderate Muslims against the west. Therefore exacerbating the very thing they are trying to solve.

The rest of it is old news!

You're right, it is old news, but thats the point. If we know this isn't working, but the pols and military are singing a tune that it is working, what's to be done? Do we stay or do we leave and wait for the next event?

We're dancing to the opponent's tune for now. Its whether we keep dancing and for how long.

And the title needs changing. Wikileaks isn't 'UK', last time I checked it was based in Sweden.

I agree with some of what you say. Islam, like any religion, has two ends stretched across a middle. Fanatics to regulars to non-practitioners who still believe in the basics. No one in the middle or NP end is going to get close to the crazies, which, thankfully, is why every Muslim is not killing non-muslims.

The fanatics, though, are well-armed and well-funded and have a penchant for blood, whether its muslim blood or non-muslim blood. The religion itself is at odds with the two major sects, who cannot seem to live together in the same lands in which they reside.

The second point has more to it than regular people just turning to the fanatics because innocents are being killed. Truth in that, but, like Vietnam, when darkness falls, the troops go back to base and leave the countryside to the crazies. Many of the regulars believe they can act out in the daytime with the coalition forces and live to see night come, but they know they won't see daylight come if the fanatics even suspect they spoke to a westerner.

The major news media went to London to get the story from WikiLeaks. The story did say they had their main office in Sweden. I wasn't inferring it was British.

I thought the US had freedom of the press? Why couldn't Wikileaks break the story in Washington or New York?

We have freedom of a biased press. We never know when we're getting accurate information here. Why couldn't they break the story in DC or New York or any other area of the 50 states? You've got me, why?

News report tells how the story was actually released. Apparently, the owner, Mr. Assange is Australian, but moves around, probably from necessity. The operation, WikiLeaks, was also set up with the help of Chinese dissidents. Assange does not get into where his operation is statically located. He released his story from London to the The Guardian, New York Times and Der Spiegel.

Looks as though the "old news" re WikiLeaks is having an immediate impact on the White House, the Pentagon and Congress. Lots of spin coming from many directions.
