$200 is enough to pay for a respectable memorial (I've not investigated all what the military pays for if you're killed in theater) and hopefully enough to pay off your mortgage and whatever debt.

It gives your widow a chance to collect herself and find another guy to replace you or downsize to an efficiency apartment.

That's an interesting idea but guessing from DT's comment I'm thinking people were saying inappropriate things rather than it being spam.
