So, the holidays are rapidly approaching. Are you ready?

What are your family traditions, recipes, or events that you want to share?

Is anyone looking for new traditions to start?

Thanksgiving at my sisters. Xmas eve I may go to my grandfathers. Even if I just go myself. Xmas night I think to my sisters again. New Years get drunk! hell get drunk on all holidays!

I'm nowhere near ready and I'm actually starting to worry about it. I really need to crack on and get shopping.

I have my light up Christmas jumper though.

I'm so not ready either. I think I want another month or two of prep time.
I'm usually well in preparing for the chocolate, but alas, other than securing 5lbs of it, I'm not feeling it. Had the same problem with Halloween.

I'm ready. This year I'm editing Christmas wallpapers for my computer.

All I ever do on Thanksgiving & Christmas is cook. While everyone is having fun, I'm in the kitchen. I'd just assume have no one around on holidays. Just me & the wife would suit me fine.

i have thanksgivings with my sisters and their families. my sister made a whole pumkin pie all for me, you can't have any. usually, we don't get together on christmas. last two years, on christmas, i get the stomach flu, because of st. louis weather. maybe, this christmas, i won't get the flu. on new year's eve, i have dinner with my sisters to start the new year.

I honestly have never had much in the way of holiday traditions. We used to do the "open one gift on Christmas eve" thing when I was younger but that was then. It's kind of difficult to manage a yearly tradition with the crazy schedule I keep (sometimes working Christmas eve, sometimes Christmas day, sometime both).

Well we are going to have a buffet dinner this time instead of a sit down.
Once in a while we do this.
Christmas we will have a sit down...something different from our usual buffet.
So it's a switch one might say.
Change is good.

I'm actually considering ignoring thanksgiving this year. My mom was a little sad we might not have turkey, but it's just so much work I don't know I have the energy for. Either to host or even go to their place since I'd have to go alone.

I think someone stole my spoons.

Where ever I was in the world. My Wife and I would look towards the sky and the general direction of each other. Taking time out to think of each other and the love we had. I will do the same this year I hope if there is a heaven she can do the same. This year I will raise her first Grandson up to the Heavens so that she may see him.

Duck for Thanksgiving
Turkey for Christmas
Shepherds Pie and bread pudding for Boxer Day
Black eyed peas for New Years (must eat one for every day of the year for good fortune).

...and lots of booze: rum, tequila, egg nog with brandy, mojitos, bloody marys, gin & tonic, vodka on ice, wine and beer for everyone else as I have become allegoric to hops ( ) and sulfites ( ) so don't drink beer or wine any more...

Oh and my sister's mini pecan pies... Southern Baklava...!

Hops and sulfites are right up there with egg. Ruining an otherwise good time.
At least you can still have the eggnog and pecan pie!
