We were chatting last night about what was the first memory we had that we could recall. As we chatted my family recalled what they remembered about each of our births and a neighbour was saying about the birth of my younger brother and how two other neighbours went in the ambulance with my mum when he was arriving.

Those words relight my memory of being in my big sisters arms as my mum was wheeled out on a stretcher covered by a big red hairy looking blanket by two strange men into a big ice cream van and our neighbour climbed in with her. I remember my big sister crying and nobody have even hit her or shouted at her. She was hugging and kissing away at me and I remember our neighbour taking us over to her house and me getting a big messy biscuit from her.

I was nearly eighteen months old at the time but even as I write I can almost taste the big nicky cake biscuit she had given me.

What is your earliest memory?

My earliest memory and the one that sticks out the most was my 'dad' coming home drunk one night, collecting what little we had in the house, taking it into the garden and setting fire to it...what gutted me the most was my god father bought me a brand new satchel for school and a packet of pop corn...my
'dad' even took that and burnt it.
The next day i remember digging up out the ash a tiny ceramic kitten, i still have it...dunno why i kept it
