That's the whole point of nonviolence, though. You're using the opponent's violence against them. The thought behind it is that, if the opponent sees they're using violence against peaceful people, they'll come to see the evils of their actions and change them. With that in mind, it's no surprise MLK's assassination accomplished so much. It just further proves how effective nonviolence can be.

I'm not sure what Obama's foreign policy has to do with anything, but I suppose it couldn't hurt for him to learn something from Teddy Roosevelt. There's a reason he's on a mountain, after all.
