I saw this on the news last night, this lady had her kid on a dog leash and was dragging him across the floor, and nobody was doing anything about it while she was doing it!!

Well, it certainly doesn't seem like a smart thing to do, but I've seen kids out in public act so badly that if their mothers dragged them off with a leash, I'd probably applaud.

I'm sure that any mother who has had a toddler throw a tantrum in a public place and relate to this womans frustration.

Maybe she can't lift above a certain weight Or maybe she knew if she did she would totally lose it.

I have been in the situation where my little guy has taken a fit in the store. The type where you can hear the child from the far end of the store. NEVER would I have dragged him around like that!!! There is NO reason to do that.

As stated on the video.....if she does THAT in public, what does she do behind closed doors???

so when a child does throw this kind of fit, is there a best way to handle it? spanking, time out, drag them on a leash?

Whatever gets them away from me, or makes them immediately quiet is the way to go.

I remember when we were little, if one of us had a tantrum in a store or restaurant, we would be promptly taken out into the parking lot and beaten until we were quiet.

We had very few tantrums in public places as a result.

I don't know how other parents handle it, but if my kids act up while we are out, I take them straight home.(shopping and such), leave them with their dad, then go back and finish my shopping. If there was a certain items they were looking forward to (new clothes or something else they needed)they would have to wait for another day, or not get it at all. I like the fact that I can go into the toy section with them and they know from the start that we are there to LOOK(ie: ideas for up coming B-days, X-mas)

I do feel for parents that have a screaming child with them. There are many different ways to handle the situation, but dragging a child like that has no place anywhere. If it comes to the point where the child is to be spanked(depending on the parents views) or needs a time-out, take the child to the washroom/nursery area.

But you can't spank in public or people call the authorities.
