Looking back some 50 years, I realized I was kinda forced to go to Sunday School. I was
actually bribed by earning little medals and bars to go. Maybe that was what turned me off
organized religion? Comments?

Yes we were Roman Catholic, and my parents would stay home and send us to the service at 7:30AM, just to go get a bulletin that was there every Sunday so they could have one just to read up on the community news and so other people would think that they had attended. Boring

I was United Church and my mother was the secretary of the church, so I had to go to keep
up appearances! Know how you feel!

I was only ever made to go to Church by my grandma, as she wanted to teach us some discipline as my parents aren't the strictest in the world. Didn't work though, my brother and I went once and we never went back.

Yes parents do like to force their ideals on young minds to live out their own ideas of how
each of us should be, which usually backfires.

I was a born Atheist. I refused to go, then my mom took away the things that I liked the most and I went. When I was old enough I didn't care and she was pissed. Too bad mother!

yeah it was a pretty religious school, we had morning prayers and all that that...and going home prayers
.....and prayers before our lunch
...damn we were always praying!

and we were forced to go to confession and everything too, i think these days its not quite as forced, but still very pressured.
we wern't even given the option of opting out though, and i stopped believing in god when i was like 7
