best and most detailed RPG i have ever played. it completely took over my life for 8 months. everything i did was oblivion, i ate oblivion, i breathed oblivion and i slept oblivion. And i still managed to come first in my maths, english and science classes. The world in oblivion is pretty large to start out with but once you have explored it a lot it becomes really small. my favourite place in the game is a shipwreck in the north-west corner of the map, if you have the game and you can find it, its an awesome place, and i think its got a chest you can open but i can't remember the contents of said chest. oblivion has to be the RPG of the decade excluding various MMORPG's. The diversity in creating your character and character stats is fantastic however i did wish that there were more types of armor available and weapons but in the end i was a skilled and stealthy archer.

amazing game,
i really think that after a master piece like that comes out it really raises the bar for games,
i mean there's no excuse for the people that produce the terrible, crappy games that make up 90% of the market.

in saying that, does anybody else think they should of kept a lot of the elements from morrowind that they removed?,
morrowinds still superior in a lot of ways.

they basically just simplified it all,
especially the leveling system,
they removed the weapon catagories, leaving only blade and blunt,
so you can be proficient with a number of weapons,
but i prefere specialisation,
it helps form an individual character.

as for weapons themselves, they left only swords, daggers and axes, oh and bow, no crossbow or throwing weapons.

the huge abundance of missions and groups to join was cut down dramatically, theres only the fighters, mages, thieves and the dark brotherhood.

loadsa other small tingies, there's hardly any weapon and armour types, and enemies are given them based on your level, so at high level, everyone's running around with glass and deidric armour.

.....that sounds very negative,
i do love the game.

oh wow didnt know they cut that much sorta bums me out a little but there still is a pretty big hype to it.... makes me wonder is the hype from players just getting into the elder scrolls games or is it from people who have played the past ones?

i'd say if you were big into the elder scrolls games then you won't be able to help feeling like they dumbed it down a little,
but its amazing at the same time,
looks and plays beautifully.

i firmly believe it's the best game ever made (next to morrowind :lol

In order of greatness, the Elder Scrolls series sadly seems to run in this direction;

Elder Scrolls II > Elder Scrolls III > Elder Scrolls IV.

Seriously. In Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, you had a game world literally twice the size of the U.K., fifty factions, four endings to the main quest, climbing, creating your own items, .... *sigh* [whishes he still had TES II]
