Well, once again we have a swine flu outbreak that may become a pandemic.

As this article makes clear, pandemics often originate with domesticated nonhumans that we raise to eat.

We kill approximately 56 billion animals every year worldwide (not counting aquatic animals). This amount of suffering and death is staggering; indeed, it is simply unimaginable. Eating animals is not only not necessary for optimal human health, it often directly results in the mass death of humans. Moreover, animal agriculture is on multiple levels (global warming, water pollution, deforestation, topsoil erosion, etc.) an ecological disaster.

Hey, don't throw it over this way if you do 'catch' it. We don't care if you don't share this time. Rogy, I agree basically with what you said, but don't know that it will change my eating habits. Can't see myself as a vegan. Nor do I like to eat insects of any kind, so that's out. Ewww.

Yeah, let's let all the farm animals out, so they can get hit by cars, get eaten by predators in much worse deaths, and catch even more diseases to spread around. Also, I have never see a vegetarian that wasn't skinny as hell.

Perhaps you ought to get out more. I have been vegan since 1979 and have never been 'skinny'. However, I still play soccer and am in pretty good shape. Don't knock what you do not know.

My nipples are there only so I have something to hang my bottle opener on in the summer when I go shirtless.
