Then you are very lucky indeed , as from what i've read and learnt from experience, if as you say they do exist, you are very lucky to find them within your lifetime.

I took that to mean:

While the soul is governed by a body it is mortal but once governed by the spirit (after the body dies) it is immortal.
Have i interpreted this wrong?

You may be correct. It could be that the only way to know is by direct experience. Until then it is only speculation and hope.
