Which is truer, in your opinion??
If you loved me, you would change for me.
If you loved me, you wouldn't ask me to change.

I've been struggling lately with this question, and would like to know how others feel. Thanks for responding.

I think it would depend on what needed to be changed.

Love, no love, we don't change, we only become more fully who we are. IMO.

Tough one huh..

This depends, is the attitude, habit or whatever it may be that requires change, MORE valuable than the person who requires the change?

What do you love more?

Both are true, but it's a dependent on what exactly needs to be changed. I mean, I've changed because of my bf, and not really in a bad way either. It's positive.

I'm stuck. I think both are very true, so I'm going to stick around and see what others think.

Anything wrong, Randy? Maybe if this is about a specific issue it might help to know some more abou the problem?

I think if you want to change something for another person, because you love them, that is ok.

If they are making you change it is not ok.

No one is "perfect" and people do change, but it has to come from them. If they are forced, its "fake" in a sense, and it probably won't last and its going to revert back to what it was before eventually, leading to more heartache and drama.

I do think there are fundamentally some things about a person that can't change, its too much who they are, and trying to force that out of someone will break them.
There are other things that are just bad habits, they can be easily changed with just a little effort. The true challenge is recognizing the difference.

I went with: "If you loved me, you wouldn't ask me to change."

in my opinion. if your in love, you'll be willing to change if it would make the person happy, but you don't feel obligated to because you know they'll love you for who you are and that they don't care.

It's about knowing you don't have to, but be willing to if need be.

Then you're misunderstanding the question. I'll reword it for you. If you were in a relationship with someone and the issue of change came up, which would be the truer answer, from your point of view.

If you look at it from a christian point of view, what does unconditional acceptance get you?
