I'm a pro web designer and am good at CEO. If you are going to put your blood sweat and tears into a web site, you really should put your best foot forward and do it right, and consider it a learning process.

Get a real domain name: godaddy.com
Get a real hosting account: same as above, I also host as well
Learn ftp and how it works, google it up.
Easiest way to design, get an html editor, netscape composer comes bundled with netscape, I prefer the 4.6-8 version.
You can have any photo's you take, even from a disposable camera developed onto a CD.
With Google and all search engines, content is king, the more, the better, within limits, ie. don't spam them with too much which means look at who you are competing with in that area that's showing up. Also, meta tags are necessary to use tact with.

Good luck.

netscape.com type in archive browsers, you'll find it. The reason I use it exclusively, it doesn't bog the pages down with unnecessary code, the search engines like that as well. I do hand code as well, just in case I want to do more with it then what it can handle.
