I think the only film I've seen where he was remotely entertaining was Shrek. He clearly tries hard but I just don't find him funny most of the time.

I like that the best as well but he has several excellent films besides:

Beverly Hills Cop
48 Hours
Trading Places
Bowfinger
Dreamgirls--excellent.

Eddie Murphy's talent hasn't been put to good use since the 80's ended, with the exception of voice over animation.
