Any. Seriously, you just dont know what they're feeling. Its all guesswork by science types. Most of them dont know their arse from a hole in the ground when it comes to stuff like this, right?

Well, I can describe human emotions being that I have experienced them. We all can; we just don't describe them the same way, probably because we don't interpret or even experience them the same way.

As for animals I obviously can't, and you're right that there is much dissension on the topic. I simply agree with those who feel that animals can't experience the full range of emotions that a human can, mainly because I believe a lot of our emotions come from our ability to interpret our world on a higher level. We can think about the world around us on a level that an animal is incapable of and I think that has a massive impact on how we experience emotions.

I'm 17, with no car and no kids. I live with my mom and my boyfriend lives here on the weekends.

I think my attention is fairly distributed THANK you very much.

Way to make judgements on my life.
Good LORD way to make a good impression...
you did not ask for a good impression. you asked a question.
perhaps , had you asked for an answer that gave a good impression , i might have answered differently ... however , it would have then been less truthful on my part , and only have served to placate you , not opine or enlighten.
if you don't want honest answers,, be more specific in your requests.
i , however , am done with this thread. g/n.

Well, humans are animals and very few people would dispute that humans are capable of love so why would it be different for any other animal?

Sometimes I wonder if pets are more loving than people.

I agree.I think Kristy needs to put a third option on her poll and the third option needs to be "I don't know."
Because nobody knows.

Nobody knows? Can you love? You're an animal right? So there you go.

No, but for real, this is your opinion. That's why I didn't put "IDK" because then everyone would pick that and it would be a boring conversation.

The question was whether or not animals could love. Not "Do you think I spend too much time with my pets".

But thank God you're leaving the thread anyway!

I think so. Their ability to unconditionally love is outstanding.

I think they can love. Jake was moping for a couple weeks after Maxi left. Maxi and Jake bonded like crazy.
Harper, my dog, only really liked me. He'd go nuts if I wasn't around.
If stuff like taht isn't love, than I don't know what is.

I believe they can, the question actually reminded me of a poem we analysed in Literature today.

I like to think they can't, it seems the more macho option of the two

The same can be said about the opposite, too. They can discriminate and hate, too. I had a dog once, that couldn't STAND my brother... would growl if he even LOOKED at him. And I had this cat one time... that would attack the feet of a friend of mine whenever he came over. If a chick is hatched with, say, a black spot on its head, the other chickens will peck at that spot, until those feathers are gone, or the poor chick is dead.
So yeah... animals feel...

I know a woman who has a racist dog...seriously, her dog will bark and growl at anyone who is black, the women gets so embarrassed (especially as half her neighbourhood is black).
My dog, also, doesn't like men. At all. It's really strange.

But, yes, I do think animals love. Animals love, and mourn, and show sadness and happiness. They pine, and get scared. They have many emotions.
