The ones that are on eBay are generally not repairable or replaceable, which is why they're on eBay in the first place.

I was under the impression that Microsoft will replace or repair any unit that has the 3 red lights hardware failure. This is on the Microsoft website, apparently very little are repaired but a new unit with your old hard-drive is returned!! Hmm

Try it and find out. Like any speculation, it comes with risk.

Not if the system is crammed with peanut butter, or has been opened, melted, broken, etc.

It's very rare to find an XBox 360 on eBay whose only problem is the RROD, because Microsoft will replace such an XBox 360 for free.

What happens when you have had your three light failure, they do the repair and now your XBox is over heating again and you know it's ready to die any day now?

I'd ask how you know it's "overheating" and what makes you think it's about to die.

It's acting up exactly as it did the first time so experience would the reason I think it's days are numbered.

Yeah if someone is putting a messed up XBOX on ebay my guess is they have opened it up and tried to fix it themselves and have then voided the warranty. If the person could just send it in to microsoft and get it fixed why wouldn't they just do that themselves?

Yeah think you are right, if someone can have an xbox fixed for free why wouldnt they at least get it fixed and then sell it, or just get it fixed.. I think there is foul play afoot..

Suppose I gotta save my pennies then, anyone wanna chip in to the "Wynston XBOX fund?"
