It appears that oil executives have been busy testifying all week before Congress that they didn't meet with V.P. d*** Cheney's Energy Taskforce. The Washington Post has uncovered documents showing otherwise.

Is perjury before Congress taken seriously? Apparently not!

When "Scooter" Libby's performance is added to the mix, it appears that someone is suborning perjury.

As you are picking up the tab, perhaps you might wish to make your views known.

Do people take an oath before they testify before Congress? Congress is not a court and the only thing they can "do to you" is hold you in contempt for lying or things of that sort. But I'm pretty sure they don't swear you in, so perjury is by definition impossible. Let's not give the legislative branch too much of the judicial branch's responsibility

Testimony before Congress requires the same oath as does testimony in a court. A Congressional subcommittee that deems itself a fact finding body also has the power of subpoena and contempt. You may recall that cases of impeachment are tried in the Senate, after indictment (Impeachment) in the House of Representatives.
