Isaiah 1:18 - ...“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;... - A fresh blanket of snow is the whitest thing I can think of, it has long been a symbol of purity and cleanliness. And in old testament times scarlet was popular because it was one of the firmest of dyes not easily washed out. God uses these two illustrations to tell us about our sin and what he will do about it. This scripture is clearly a prophecy about the coming savior Jesus Christ revealed to Isaiah about 740 BC. All of us have inherited our ability to sin from Adam when he decided to disobey God in the garden of Eden, as we are told in Romans 5:12 - Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—. Only Jesus Christ can take away all our sins and faith in him will make us as white as snow. https://www.whataboutjesus.com | |
