Today, I went with my friend to watch his father being laid to rest. This was a man that I had known almost all my life. I was sadden with the fact that he died alone and was buried with no friends, no family and no funeral. We went to the cemetary and was only 4 of us standing over a hole in the ground. The hearst backed up and they pulled out the casket and slowly eased this man below the ground and began covering his body with dirt. No music, no prayers, just somber silence and the noise of the front loader picking up the dirt.
Live life as if it was your last day to live and if you are lucky enough to wake in the morning, you will have great memories of yesterday and have made many friends. |
