That's A Wrap
November 20, 2008 @ 01:46:44 am
First, thanks to everyone who wished me well about getting an extra job.Last friday,I got a call from the casting director for 1 of 4 mess hall workers and asked if I was interested.Of course I said yes,so she said the reporting date was 8:00 a.m. 11/18.The 4 of us get dressed up in uniforms they had for us and then we wait, and wait, and then wait some more. Finally, around 2:00 p.m.,we get led to the cafeteria of the military institute where this is being filmed.A little group of us waits just outside where the actual filming takes place with George Clooney, directing and acting in it.We hear all the phrases-Rolling,Cut,etc.Finally, at 3:30,we're told-That's a Wrap-you can all go home.In other words, they decided at the last moment to shoot without our group. Oh Well! I heard later that George Clooney was sick but wouldn't go to the doctor until he finished everything for the day.Consequently, the assistant directors rushed everybody and abbreviated things. The first question-yes,I did get paid. second-no, I didn't see anybody famous even though it stars Clooney,Ewan McGregor,Kevin Spacey, and Jeff Bridges,I managed to avoid seeing them.Third-the best part?-that would be the lunch. It was done by some group from Hollywood and the food was very good. All in all,I'm glad I had the experience and I will catch the movie-"Men Who Stare at Goats" when it comes out.

The food part was good-Brisket of Beef,Mahi-Mahi,sweet potatoes,cornbread,4 different kinds of salads, fresh fruits,cookies,cheesecake-and that was just for lunch.everything was made on the premises, including the brisket.I wasn't there for supper but I saw the menu written out and it included Rack of Lamb.As for it being in New Mexico,I guess they like the work climate. That particular movie is filming some scenes in Albuquerque today.I think they hope to go home next week.
