I'm trying to work out a damaged friendship on another forum...

But my friend is so upset that she keeps logging out on me. It's frustrating. We're getting through this a piece at a time. She'll answer my questions a little bit, then log out. After awhile she'll come back and post a little more, then log out again. This is going to take weeks to fix it. The friendship has been non-existent for a couple of months.

At least she's finally told me that her ex-boyfriend tried to turn her against all her friends, real-life, internet & family. She's hurt, but at least he's gone & banned from that forum. Sheesh!

Well if you feel the friendship is really worth salvaging, why not write her a detailed email? Or if you don't have an email addy, ask her for one, or just send your thoughts via PM anyway, regardless of whether or not she's online at the time.

..I do know how a controlling man can be though; it can't be easy for her.

I had no idea he was controlling her. She knew him from the 'Net. Had no idea something could get that serious and destructive. They were seeing each other in real life a few times, but he just had her turned every which way. Destructive people are everywhere. I was a little worried about it, but I didn't see how much harm a 'Net relationship could do to a grown woman. Wish I had paid more attention.
