Ovarian cancer diagnosis
September 07, 2009 @ 02:04:13 am

I talked to my doctor two weeks ago and they're trying to maintain my health, but they can't do anything about the cancer. I knew that before they said anything because I've been watching the progress, too. Really need to take it easy and be careful now. The chemotherapy has been changed to a new treatment I have to take 2 or 3 times a month.

I nearly injured myself this morning. Had no idea I was going to fall and came to laying on the floor. Didn't break anything, just cuts and bruises. It scared me enough that I called my son to cancel his weekend trip and come home. I hate wrecking his weekend, but he's a wonderful son to help me when I'm sick.

I'm trying to go through lots of things in my mind and find peace. It's time for me to start running this out. The doctor wants me to look for goals, but I have no idea where to start.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you're not looking for sympathy here, but that must be hard. If I may make a suggestion... look back in your life and remember what you wanted to do that never got to for other reasons. Say, you wanted to travel but never couldn't. That's just one example.

Thanks! Actually, at this point I just appreciate comments because some of my friends are too afraid of the sujbect. You're right. I should look at some older goals, back in time, and see what comes to mind then.

It can be anything...making a list of all your favorite books and reading a certain number in a set time.

Taking art classes, scrapbooking anything.

It can be spiritual, relaxing, musical anything, just gotta pick one you enjoy and set a date.

Hope you knock the cancer out!

LOL - I've thought recently been thinking about that. I go to the library once a week and I've thought of reading all the books in one of the buildings. Somebody would think I was a nut. But that could be an honest goal, at least to read all the subjects that I enjoy. I'm still trying to keep my sense of humor about all this.

Its hard I understand.

What about those walks? You know like the breast cancer walks, heart healthy walks, etc.

Those would be a viable goal and I'm sure may contribute to your overall health. The walks vary differences and miles, and you can start by the smallest..walk a little bit everyday to where you can finish the first walk you enter...and continue on to more ambitious goals.

This way you can also make a lot of friends who are exactly where you are, or in a similar situation. A good support system can help greatly too.

That's a good idea too, but I don't think I have enough time. It looks look like my time will run out around this year or next. I've had the cancer for a few years
