Here in Brasil its extremely hard to get out on your own. Which is why my husband and I have been living with his parents these last months. Living with your in-laws is something I would never suggest. Its been really frusterating.
But now that I can work we can finally get out. We already found an apartment. It's perfect really. We were beginning to give up hope on finding one that was bigger than a shoe box, in good condition, in a decent area and within our price range. But this apartment meets all that and it has a huge veranda. So we are very happy with it.
His parents gave us R$5000 to buy a fridge, stove, washer, and living room furniture. Its a basic start but we are content.
We arent really worried about buying top of the line things anyways because we'll be selling it all next year when we leave for the states. What a blessed day that will be.
Well, you really never know about your marriage until the two of you are out on your own. Living with your in=laws can be a pain. The thought of my ex-wife's mother causes me to hyperventilate.

Yeah I cringe when I hear my mother-in-laws voice coming up the hall towards us. And I refuse to go anywhere if she comes along. She seems to think that its her place next to my husband and not mine!
Oh just a few more days and I will only have to deal with her over the phone and maybe twice a week face to face.
