Well done!

I picked the winner in the Grand National myself, £2 14/1 was a nice £28 return.

Edited to add, was actually a £35 win as I had it on each way.

Excellent, well done. I put a smaller second bet on a outside horse (Golden kite) on behalf of my boy, £2 each way. It would have made £129.00 needless to say though it din't do too well

I was like that, I put another 50p on a horse which was 50/1. Fell at the second fence

I always bet low stakes though just because I don't mind losing a couple of quid but as soon as I get to the amount for a pint at my local boozer (£2.65) I can't stand to lose it because then I always think 'f***, could have bought a pint with that'.

I don't usually gamble but the national is a bit of an institution. I know a little about horse racing so I always have a punt each year. I was going to put £20 on then I realised how s***ty I would feel if it lost and what else I could have spent that money on so I went with £10. I didn't feel bad at that because I wasn't going out tonight so I was saving some pennies there. My heart was pounding as it was nearing the finishing post. I can see why people get addicted!

Yeah I was getting right into it near the end, I had the remote in my right hand and was waving it frantically shouting 'Come on lad, come on!'

I tend to bet on the National and on football games which are on tv that I don't really care about. That way it means I support a particular team to make it some-what interesting. Won £57 so far this year just on small £1/£2 bets so pretty pleased but I'm always a bit scared that if I start going above that that I could get lulled into the addiction, and knowing people who are addicted is quite scary.

Remember being in the bookies about a year ago and this lad at one of the electronic Poker machines won £50. My heart bled for him as he systematically put every pound that he won back into the machine.

I used to be that person the poker machine, but in my case it would be the fruit machines in the pub, it's scary when you can't seem to walk away. I don't do it any more. I have learnt that as long as I don't put any money in I am fine, but once I put that first pound in I am there til my purse is empty. hence I said I don't gamble!!

It's quite scary really.

My mum's ex partner and her split up because he had a secret gambling habbit. He lost thousands of pounds betting on the stock market. Scary thing was my mum only found out when he tried to get her to put her house in both their names.
