I've completely overspent this month and have had to really watch what I spend. I'm like you though that I think it feels quite good having to live off what I've got in already rather than getting something in.

I never learn though and will do the same on another occasion.

I know, that's what I fear. I worry that as soon as I have money I'll end up over-spending to make up for the past two weeks.

Automatically deduct a small amount from you paycheck to an account you can't easily access and forget about it. It's always a nice surprise when you do need the money or even when you don't need it, either that or treat your savings as a monthly expense.

I used to do that, put money into an ISA every month, but I stopped it when I was between jobs. Should really start doing it again.

What's an ISA? Individual savings account, like for retirement?

And yes, you should get back on that.

Just a fairly high interest account really.

I don't have a card for it so need to transfer money to a different account in order to access it. I still have some money in there, but that is pretty much not going to be touched unless I'm absolutely desperate.

At the moment I should be OK, just hope I actually do get money on Friday or I may have to use the ISA money.
