I have bad luck with dogs -_-
August 03, 2013 @ 03:26:08 pm
I was taking care of my friend's dog last weekend while she was out of town (she's a small fluffy mixed breed but no one's sure what she's mixed with exactly).

I took her out for a walk one morning and she tried to go socialize with another dog (some small, muscular dog with floppy ears that looked like it could be a corgi/bulldog mix) that also seemed really eager to socialize with her. They were both running at each other in friendly ways, so I thought everything would go down well. At first they were sniffing each other all happy, when all of a sudden the other dog snapped at my friend's dog! Then, right after that happened, my friend's stupid dog tried to sniff it again before I could pull her away, and of course, the other dog snapped a second time. This freaked me out so bad - it's one thing if I owned the dog, but it's my friend's dog! If she got hurt I would have been in so much trouble! Then, later in the day I went to visit my grandparents. They also have a dog (a medium sized German shepherd mix) that I take out for walks sometimes because they're getting too weak to take her out themselves. We were passing by one house with a metal gate when a really hyper corgi popped out from the other side of the gate and started barking and running towards my grandparents' dog. I thought it was a good opportunity for her to socialize with other dogs since she doesn't get to go out much, so I let her run towards the corgi too. Then, right when she got to the gate, the corgi tried to jump through the gaps in the fence and snapped! It was growling and barking viciously as we ran the hell away from that house. -_- The two dogs I walked are great with other dogs - my friend's was doing great with a puppy the day before, and I've known my grandparents' long enough to know that she's also great with other animals, so I know they're not the ones at fault. Some people really need to train their dogs better...

You seem to be having a problem with corgis and corgi-mixes.

Maybe corgis are jerks.

Get some pepper spray. Go with the kind that has a direct stream so you don't get any pepper spray cloud blow back in your own eyes.

The first one was on a leash and the owner was right there pulling his dog away, and the other one was behind a fence so I think I'm good without pepper spray
