Finally landed my big girl job! February 03, 2014 @ 11:39:51 pm
I graduated from college in May with my degree in Secondary Level Mathematics and I have been a substitute teacher for the first half of this school year. Three weeks ago I got offered a job at a high school working full time teaching Algebra 1, Statistics, and Trigonometry. I absolutely love the district and the people I work with. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep this job next year. They are not sure because they have massive budgeting issues within the district right now.
I know that I haven't posted anything on here in ages and i only get on every now and then to talk to a few friends that I met on here. However, I am SO excited that I just have to share this with everyone! I student teach next semester and after that I will finish my degree (FINALLY!) and today I got my placement for student teaching which means I will now get to start planning. YAYY! I start January 14th and will be teaching 11th and 12th grade mathematics.
I didn't realize this.... September 27, 2011 @ 02:17:14 pm
I just noticed that I have been on TFS for over 5 years now. Granted, I haven't been the most active member in the past year or so because all I really do when I get on is check PM's but still. I love this place even though I don't post often.
Also, thanks everyone who has helped me with anything in the past. I love all of the friends I have made on this site and I'm sure they will be my friends for a long long time.
Creepers at the library August 11, 2010 @ 02:23:04 am
Let me just tell you that I have had some interesting experiences with creepy people at the library. The latest involving a young man who came up to me two weeks ago and told me he was joining a fraternity and had a list of stuff he needed to do. He then asked if he could see or touch my belly button. I told him no of course and he then told me he would give me 5 dollars if he could kiss it. I responded no again and he kneeled to the floor as if I was going to change my mind. I just stared at him and he finally left.
Then last week he came up to me again while I was shelving books. I guess he didn't recognize me because he said the same thing. I immediately went downstairs and told my boss. We looked around the entire building for him and didn't find him.
Then today while I was in class my coworker got approached by him. They finally caught him. He got yelled at by my boss. Then the police escorted him out and banned him from the university. Turns out he wasn't even a student.
We also have had a number of guys jacking off by the computers while searching porn. Found one homeless couple in the music book section going at it. We have one guy who asks me weird questions all the time, he is not allowed to have a female tutoring down in tutoring services, and he has had issues with judicial affairs in the past. He's on a very thin line right now and if he crosses it he too will be banned.
I would have never thought going into this job that all these strange people would be at a library.
I have a two year old English Mastiff and my mom went to let her outside and she spotted a skunk. Went darting after it, got sprayed, backed off for a minute, then started chasing it again and chased it underneath our deck. Luckily it was a little baby skunk so the stench isn't as foul as it could be.
I told my parents I would help clean her off but they won't let me. I imagine cleaning a 145 pound dog will be a challenge. She hasn't been inside the house since it's happened but the smell is seeping through the cracks on the door and into our house. Yuck.
I have the sudden desire to go shower just to smell something good.
