So sitting here tired at work sifting through some emails on car parts that people want, I'm starting to notice a trend. A trend that I cannot become part of yet it seems like it would be such a fun idea if I could. Now "What is this trend?" you may ask. Well.

This trend is when people decide to quote their favorite scripture (Mainly christians do this but Ive seen others) from their respective holy book. Now you may sit there and wonder why this matters or why wouldn't I be able to join. Well the issue I have is when you are someone with no faith, what quotes can you use that wouldn't seem an insult to the ones with faith. I mean I would love to use the Indiana bus campaign's slogan of "You can do good without god" but it seems somewhat against the other person when it is put in the single person to person context of an email. Now I am not saying that the quote I put above is a negative quote, I actually really like it and think it has great meaning, but when you are someone of faith you could see that quote as negative. So the reason I write this is not to complain this point but to reach out and see what other quotes you fellow atheist/agnostic types would see as good to use in such a medium.

I'm not sure it's really even all that negative. What's negative about doing good, whether God is involved or not? Then again I'm not a person of faith so I guess that doesn't really help you lol

Does it have to be related to religious beliefs or can it just be a general and good-natured quote?

Like if I were to pick a quote not even having to do with religion I'd pick "You must be the change you wish to see in the world" - Gandhi

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

Anne Frank

How could anyone take offense to that?

Hm... ok guess I wasn't full concepting this in my mind lol. Like I said tired this morning. Was just meandering through stuff that would be in some way a quote that supports a non faith lifestyle. But I see the ease in using something that is just a good quote. I guess I am just stuck in a rut of wanting something that is like theirs but instead dealing with a persons non faith... but I like these ideas also.
