Man, oh, man. Kids sure can yap, yap, yap on endlessly, can't they? To think, I used to worry that he wasn't grasping verbal communication as well as he needed to do.
Lol. I don't worry about that anymore. The kid can talk on and on incessantly now, and that's just normal conversation. Get him talking about something that he's truly excited about and it just gets faster, louder, and longer.
They're interesting conversations though. There's nothing quite like talking with a five year old. | |

| I hear ya! It's amazing how into a conversation they can get...when it interests them that is.
With our son, we were concerned when he was two, since he would only say 'Mom', 'Dad' and 'uh!' or 'dat' to communicate. We tried all the time to get him to say new words, by pointing at items and then saying the name of it. Nothing worked.
We knew he could understand what we were saying, since he would nod and communicate non-verbally, but it was still worrisome.
It just so happened that over the course of a few weeks, he would say other family members names and he would say what he wanted instead of pointing and saying "UH!" or "Dat!"
What is your son interested in? Ours at the moment is Beyblades and Transformers. |

Man, I think I need to cut down a little on the twisting and turning. I'm still fine tuning the dance YOU taught me! |

That's about how ours was too. We were working with birth-to-three and by three he still wasn't talking the way you would expect; it was rather concerning by then. They got us set up into early childhood classes when he was too old for their program, and that's what opened the verbal flood gates.
Right now the hot topics are cows and bulls-- their differences, why they don't have horns, etc, etc, etc. All other animals are pretty big, and anything else to do with the farm. Planets will get him talking, and airplanes. And what he did with the other kids at school, particularly someone named Laura who also rides his bus. |

I should have taught you caution with your dances. Your power is exceeding your control, young grasshopper. |
