As a mom of five awesome children, you learn to give choices. "Kids we are having water tonight with dinner... what will it be? Sink water, dish water, puddle water, toilet water, or flavored water (kool aide)." I've learned that you always have to keep them guessing what Mom will say or do next. It just makes life more interesting, and heaven knows they have certainly kept me on my toes!

Key to happiness...KEEP LAUGHING no matter what they throw at ya!

I love that cheyanne. Good sense of humor. Always have to let the kids know mom & dad will always be a step ahead of them! Keep them on their toes.

I have to agree, my kids are much more likely to react positively when you are prepared to goof around with them

Two thirty am, my four year old with Down syndrome wakes up and thinks it's time to eat. The energized toddler is bouncing, and batting his baby blues. He's carrying on an entire conversation, and I'm wishing I could just hit the top of his head like a snooze button and turn off his inner alarm. His little hands are cold and he begins talking about Bella. (Noone is sure who Bella is, but he's pointed to windows insisting Bella is there.) I get a little worried each time he does this because he has had heart catheterization where they placed these devices into his little heart. I tell myself if Bella is an angel she is only here to visit and keep an eye on him.
I suppose there is even humor in me asking him WHO and WHERE is Bella? He, my little parrot, repeats EVERYTHING I ask with no real response. I'm reminded that each day is a gift, and even days where there has been little sleep I sit back and count my blessings. Here is to hoping I do get a full nights sleep tonight!
