Turned out to be better than I thought, considering it didn't go as planned... Well, as my daughter had a pupil-free day today I decided I would treat the kids and take them on a Dolphin Cruise at Port Adelaide.
We got up super early in order to make the 1 1/2 hour trip to the other side of town, made a packed lunch etc and set off. 1 bus and one train later we were at the port, and were excited to see the boat sitting there. But unfortunately as well as I thought I'd prepared myself, it turns out I must have missed something.
There we were, all ready to go on a lovely little adventure, and somehow we'd managed to turn up on the ONE DAY OF THIS MONTH they were NOT doing the cruise. I was so disappointed, I could have kicked myself in the head, had it been possible.
Luckily, the Maritime Museum is only a stone's throw away from the wharf... So we had our lunch (and spotted a small pod of dolphins in the river as we ate ) then walked around to Lipson Street and wandered through the museum ($12.50 later). I have to say I thought it would be yawn-worthy, but it was actually quite fun!! The kids ran riot through the place, 90% of it all was interactive stuff which was a bonus.
I posted some pics of our day in my profile if anyone's interested. |
