I'm writing about every movie that I watch from the 18th November 2011
Having watched Paranormal Activity 2, I figured i'll take in another movie that everyone was talking about. As I watched Insidious, the thought struck me that the family in this movie didn't seem as rich as the once in Paranormal Activity.
maybe the style of movie that P.A. was is easier with a wealthy suburban house.
The family moved into a new house and the mother seemed kinda sad. Enough before anything scary happened, i realized that the family kept impractical stuff around the house, an old-fashioned rocking horse, a grandfather clock and a record player.
The producers definitely threw that in for the sake of being creepy so I had an idea of hos the horrow was going to be.
I realized from the first scary incident that I was right; the movie used cheap scare tactics, sudden entries onto the screen with scary sounds.
Since the movie involved a link between our world and a ghost realm called The Further, they had licence to use almost any ghostly thing they could thing of, old ladies, ghost brides, deseased children.
Even as I anticipated the minute by minute scares toward the end of the movie, i was aware of how much it ripped off Poltergeist and The Exorcist and how little staying power it had in terms of those two movies.
This s*** was super scary in the night and even the next day but mostly for shock value, not for disturbing and really terrifying anyone. |
