emergency evacuation
July 04, 2009 @ 03:26:06 pm
So my past week has been crazy...

So wednesday (almost a week after I had been involved in a wreck in the same intersection) there was another wreck at the intersection about 20 yards from my house.

This time there was a 18 wheeled truck and a car involved, no one was seriously injured, but that wasn't the problem.

The big truck went airborn and flipped on to its side in the middle of the road/ ditch... the car ended up being thrown about 15 feet passed the ditch in to a corn field.

Well, the truck was an Amerochem Corp. truck carrying harmful chemicals that leaked out.

So my whole road was emergency evacuated for about 8 hours. The police officer knocked on our door and said "I strongly advise you to get your keys and get out of your home NOW."

It was kind of scary and a really unusual experience!

I ran and got my dogs and got the hell out of there.

It really sucked not having a home to go to, but eventually everything cleared out, at about 11:30 that night.

Sounded like a nightmare there, luckily you are back home.

That is the problem of chemicals, it is only really safer to go by road than either train or plane
