Sorry that you're having trouble with the people in your life, but I sort of figured that you would have expected that.

DC has a huge HUGE transgender community that's well supported by the larger GBL community, and even the leather boys..

You might want to think about a visit. Pride is in June.. Lots of groups show up that offer guidance and support.
