Skepticism is a feeling of doubt toward knowledge.

Q. what reason is there to doubt my knowledge?

My reality is a probability estimate. I cannot have any knowledge of that which underlies the (reality) that I experience. Every (thing) I know about my environment is a probability estimate.

You become a skeptic of your own knowledge when you learn the foundations of that knowledge have crumbled.

The sun rises and moves across the sky and descends on the other side of Earth.

Wait...what do you mean the Earth spins?!?

That which I know (what I believe to be true) is concluded through [logical reasoning]

Logical Reasoning is comprised of BOTH deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning.

Deductive Reasoning

If: my premises are true
Then: I will reach an absolutely certain conclusion.

IF: [A] = [B]
AND: [B] =[C]
THEN: [A] = [C]

Inductive reasoning

IF: my premises are true
Then: I will reach a probable conclusion but it is will not be a certainty

Deductive truth (e.g., math) can be reached by thought alone.

1 + 1 = 2

Inductive truth is reached through experience.

The problem is that I perceive a world and reach my conclusions based on my less than completely reliable perceptions.

My conclusions are no more than a probability estimate based on my previous experiences.

years ago, I read this quote from a science fiction book by Arthur c. clark. the last trilogy of the famous " 2001: a space odyssey ". it was seem to odd quote in the book. that I always like it for myself, never quite understand what it mean in the book.

when does fantasy begins,
when reality ends.
the truth is stranger
than fiction.
