| I watched Marley and Me last night and bawled my eyes out. It was a cute movie. I have never cried while watching a movie before!
My dad put my childhood dog to sleep (a black Lab) when I was 15. He was very sick and in a lot of pain. There was no cure for the illness, so 2 weeks before Christmas my dad took him to the vet and had him euthanized.
And Marley's death reminded me so much of Bishop, I just couldn't hold back the tears!

| | i remember when i was 6 or 7, playing outside... a cop drove up and told my dad that he had hit my dog out on the road... my dad told the cop to shoot her... one of my most vivid memories is hearing that shot go off... it sucks... for anyone who misses their old dogs... |

| | Yeah, when I was 17 our family dog got hit by a car, she crawled back into the yard. We got her in the back of the truck and sped off to the vet.s but on the way there she died in my arms. I'm starting to tear up right now thinking about that. I can't watch any shows like that, with animals in pain, without totally loosing it. |

Bishop had been like my best buddy.
Another thing that really didn't help when Marley was dying in the movie was thinking, "One day I may have to make that decision for Goliath"...
I started thinking about how hard it would be to be the person to make the decision, my parents decided before.
But I would have to be the one to say "It's time" with Goliath if that day comes, I know my fiance wouldn't do it...
He would probably just give me some line about how he doesn't want to help make the decision because he doesn't want me to blame him. Just an excuse to have someone else make such a difficult decision, I know, but if it were to happen today that's exactly how the conversation would go.
Unless things change between now and when/if that day comes, I know it would be up to me.
And I know I would be torn.
There would be the side that says "It's best for him", then there would be the selfish side that says "But I don't want Goliath to die!".

my boss watched that the other day, and he said "if you don't cry at that movie your not human" aparently I'm not
