The war movies of the fourties and fifties are what I like to call KISSTORY! The worst one is D DAY, THE 6th OF JUNE,starring Robert Taylor and Dana Wynter

My mother and I watched Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo. I expected a shootum-up war movie, but it?s more of a Kleenex-box love story. In that way, it?s something like Bridge to the Sun, which is more about the couple?s relationship, than it is about the war.

One B-25 landed in Vladivostok, or somewhere there abouts. I've seen a movie, Bridge to the Sun, or maybe that is the title of the book, which includes the Doolittle raid from the Japanese point of view. The book tells the story of an American woman, married to a Japanese diplomat, who opposed Japan's war policies. She and her daughter were interned along with her husband at a camp in Virginia, before they were sent to Japan during the war. I think she actually arrived in Japan after the raid, but the scene adds tension to the movie.

In 1942 Hornet was the aircraft carrier that launched the famous Dolittle raid on Japan. B25 bombers took off from the flight deck of Hornet, flew to Tokyo dropped their bombs, then flew on to China, many of the planes crashed on the coast of China when they had exhausted their supply of fuel, but few airmen were killed!
