i think the biggest argument against dope/weed is that it ultimately leads to bigger things --- weed > xtc > speed > crack cocaine > heroin [not nessecarily in that order] I know people who have smoked dope for years and don't take any other drugs, not even smoke a normal cig but then i also know people who started their drug taking with dope and then went on to die through heroin overdose.

There are a few of those around.

IMO, if you decide to get high one night, whether it be drunk off alcohol, stoned off weed, or high off coke; you are doing the same thing. You are using mind altering drugs in a recreational manner.

Therefore recreational drug use should either be legal, or illegal.

Anybody know of anyone high on weed beat their wife, smash their house or be abusive? Cos I haven't.

If you legalize it then you'll be able to control it better in way. You'd be able to put restrictions and such on the drug. Right now it's illegal, but more than half of the students in my school somehow find a way to get it. I'd rather see it legally controlled than illegally abused.
