it seems to me like so many more people nowadays are being diagnosed with depression, manic depression, anxiety disorders, etc, etc... i think these terms are being thrown out there way too losely... why cant a person have a quirk without being put on some meds or seeing a shrink? we throw those terms around and get people who have nothing wrong with them end up being convinced that there is something and then their minds develop that into an actual potentially crippling mental condition...

any thoughts?

Depression and quirks are two very different things.

And very difficult to confuse.

There are set guidelines that psychiatrists and doctors follow to diagnose
depression. If you don't fit in with them, you don't have depression.

but even so... just because someone is down and out for a while doesnt necessarily mean they need pills... therapy's one thing... it never really hurts to talk... but generally ur put on antidepressants... i think people rely on things like that way too much...

I think it's more that people don't want to take the chance.

yrah its where a qualified reiki puts their hands on or above you,and they do some symbols in their head, and then they bigin the healing on the front but not the breast and genital area and you have your hands above the clinet, and then do the back,it is good for people with depression cos it makes them calm and they get a feeling of warmths through my hands that feels like it covers the whole body, but you still have to still carry on your treatment with the drs and hospitals.

Personally I think that society likes to stick "labels" onto people & this helps them to do it!

My wife has been told by our family counselor she is most likely in the autism spectrum with ADD parts.
Helps me know.
Helps her to know.
Never say"Well, that's just me", or "If you love me you should except me as I am".
We ALL need to be aware of what we do.
I have PTSD with some OCD.
I have a list of things to work on to make me a better human.
Our target should be to die an enlightened person, not full of excuses

Another issue is that people are too quick to go for medication. There are methods to tackle Depression without the need of medication. That’s why people should try going to a psychologist before going to a psychiatrist. It also may be possible some cases of depression are false.
