I will be heading back home tomorrow from Iraq and one subject that was brought up was be careful who you tell your in the military. I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone tell me what I do is wrong. If It wasn't for pple like me all freedom is sacrificed. If I even catch any protesters at military funerals I'll lose it.It should be a crime

It is one of their basic rights to peacefully protest. Stop being so butthurt about it.

You protecting freedom? from who?

Those protesters are exercising the freedom you're supposedly protecting.

I'm with ya dude. Protesting at any funeral is wrong. Peaceful or not. Most protests aren't peaceful though.

Protesting at a funeral? One of the core principles of this nation is the right to assembly and protest.

Although I'm torn on this issue, I'm not sure about jailing.
Perhaps a designated area far away from relatives.

Ditto.

I definitely agree that it's rude and disrespectful, but it's their right and they should not be jailed for it.

They have a right in a free country to protest and look the low life dirtbags they are

Then again, I reckon this means the rest of us have the right to hold counter demonstrations outside their "church"

I can think of no legitimate reason to protest at ANY funeral. The person has died, I don't think they care anymore. Why hurt their family & friends? Just to get your message in the newspaper & make people angry? No.

If you want to protest, there must be a better, more logical way to do so.

All our military members deserve respect. You may not agree with a mission, so tell the Government not the soldiers.

I think are guidelines to this, protesters must stay at least 200 yards away and have their protest one hour before or one hour after the funeral service.

I myself have never protested against anything, i have no need for it, just waste of time for me

To me this has nothing to do with either agreeing with or disagreeing with the war. People are allowed to have an opinion and express it.

However, even if one disagrees with the war, the fact is that someone has died. Death and funerals need to be respected and their family is in mourning. Someones son, husband, brother, etc has died and their family deserves to have a funeral and to be left alone during this time. I could not imagine that happening when my father passed away. These people are going through something terrible and to protest at that is so disrespectful. Imagine please if that was your son, your brother or your husband and tell me you would be fine with people protesting. Death is hard enough on people, nothing needs to be added to it.

I support the troops. I am Canadian but I proudly support all Canadian and American troops. I support all the men and women who put their lives at risk doing something they believe in and protecting my rights and freedom.

My brother was in the military for 20 years before he retired and I could not imagine if he died and people protested his funeral.

It is not about the war to me, it is about compassion, respect, and letting a family in mourning have peace to pay their respect to their loved one.

Support your troops!
