I don't see where it is a bad thing to ban it. I know that there are a lot of good food companies that are already doing that anyway.

i think it's slightly humorous

that this is one of the arguments

that smokers use: "fast food police"

as evidence that big brother is taking over

Of couse they are going too far. The government has no right to tell me what I can or can't eat.

what about the people that would like

healthy fast food?

one of the reasons restaurants use trans fats

is because the food stays fresh longer

Yeah, well, I wouldn't be for a ban on all fast food resteraunts, but if they could a healthier alternative to something, I would not have a problem with it being mandated.

As I also said before, just for the sake of having ppl continue to buy thier products, most food companies have already done this.

I don't eat fast food, but what do they sell that has trans fat in it? Also, is it a total ban or just a ban on products that have a large quantity of it?

self-determination is the first right set out in the United Nations charter of Human Rights and I guess this includes what you eat and how big you get.

but we are all part of a social covenant as well and the cost to our society of the poisonous substances we ingest (foods and drinks and drugs) is enourmous.

governments attitudes to smoking have changed in an effort to protect people from disease and societies from the associated costs - in Australia smoking is now banned in all workplaces, cafes, restaurants, bars clubs and public buildings and massive campaigns to combat smoking are in effect (every packet now has full-colour photos of clogged arteries, gangrenous feet and emphysaema-lungs).

if governments are now turning their attention to toxic food substances that were approved as "fit for human consumption" back in the 50s then I say "go for it".

sometimes the people need to be protected from themselves and from the damage they do the our entire society (why should we all shoulder the costs of a few peoples eating habits???)

All meat products contain some trans fats, so if you're going to ban them the whole city will have to become vegetarians.

i'm making posts for discussion

not banning anything

i don't think the traces of trans fat

in meat will be significant

it's the hundreds of thousands

of gallons of trans fats used to fry things

that are a concern

https://www.umm.edu/features/transfats.html

Trans Fats - Fats that are artificially created through a chemical process of the
hydrogenation of oils. This solidifies the oil and limits the body's ability to regulate
cholesterol. These fats are considered to be the most harmful to one's health. The Federal
Drug Administration has mandated that the amount of trans fats be labeled on food
products by 2005.
