You either have a wubbish computer or you need to format it because it is full of crap.. no not literally...

Did you run defrag?
Did you do a virus scan?

My computer needs more RAM. It's slowish, but runs pretty good. Just delete a few gigs of crap. I might do the same as I have at least 100gigs of crap on mine.

I think you need to format it and download anti virus software to clean up your computer from virus. Then automatically it will be fast. And one more thing, defragment it once in a week.

Use a program like ccleaner to clean your temp files that are clogging stuff up. It also has a feature that lets you remove unnecessary startup programs, which mostly run in the back ground and hog resources, under the guise of 'saving you time' by already running when you want to use those specific programs. If you use a windows-native utility, such as msconfig.exe (which you can run by clicking on run from the start menu and typing msconfig in) it lists some vital microsoft services, and if you mess with those you could cause major trouble, so I recommend use a third-party program like Ccleaner or something else that doesn't list vital services for you to shut off.

Other than that, yeah, I recommend getting more RAM. It's pretty cheap these days and by far the easiest 1-step method to boosting your computer's speed.

Probably something to do with the hot weather

It really would help if you could tell us more info about your machine. There could be many reasons it is slow.

What operating system are you running (Windows XP, Windows Vista etc.)?

How much free space is on your hard drive?

How much RAM do you have?

Did the slowness come over time or just became slow one day?

Is it slow booting, just on the net, or is everything slower including the starting of any programs?

Knowing this info will help to provide you with better possible solutions.

of problems due to not doing general upgrades and maintenance proceadures ..............
