meeting people online

Why is it so many people think meeting people online is such a bad thing? i mean its no different to talking to someone in the street apart from your in your home or internet cafe at work or whatever..

i am curious about it... is it because they dont have an understanding of the internet? or is it because they were just brought up that way?

Some poeple still think the internet is for overweight, sweaty nerds.

It is all the bad news and media about meeting people on the internet. You have no idea whether what they are telling you is true. That is the difference between meeting someone on the street and online. Paranoid.

why the hell is it a bad thing...it's not. get used to it.

i sometimes thing the internet is a safer than meeting someone in reality...
on a computer they cant beat the s*** out of you..
They cant make u do anything you dont want to..

I don't think it's a bad thing at all, you can form some very good relationships online. I know I have.

...but it's easier to fool people and groom them. They might not get away with it face to face.

Maybe its because on the street you meet people face to face and on here people can lie..you may think your meeting a nice fit bloke when in reality your talking to a massive 50 stone naked bloke with no teeth?!

yes but whether you have met someone on the street or if you have met them on the internet people can lie in both situations

Becuase you have no idea of the person you are talking too... for example I am taking it that your being honest in saying your 16 and from Kent. its just as easy for you to be a sweaty obese 46 year old man who wants to meet ya young lad to strangle.....


Likewise I could be that and you wouldnt have a clue. thats why its a bad thing!

Yea it really depends on how much you can trust certain situatoins on the net

I've met a coupla people from the net irl, but I made sure they were who they said first, you gotta be as sure as you can with these things...

webcams are always a good start, phonecalls etc too

Oh and you're gut instinct is always a good one too, listen to your instincts they often tell you more than you'd think.

People are scared of the net because of all the horror stories, but they don't consider the good ones either - it's most;y ignorance...

Play it safe, be sensible and there really is no problem

You can meet good and bad both on line and in the street. The main thing is to get to know them well either way, How many people are calling those dating lines on the phone. And meeting people that way.

I would not meet anyone alone if I were planning to meet someone that I got to know from the internet. My husband and I are making plans to meet a friend that I have made on TFS in the near feature. I would love to meet the friends I have made here and might just do it one day.
