report by the UK mathematics foundation has found that the situation of mathematics learning in the UK is failing way below the level it should.
here in the UK it is thought most secondary school teachers of maths fail to have A-level maths let alone degree specialism in maths.
employers are finding it every harder to find people with enough experience in maths to do even the basics.

this is worrying to me. cos its dwelling the intellect of the population. if this decline keeps going the way it is then the country could be in deep s***!!!

I bet even if it sinks ten times lower, your country will be much better than America.

I think thats probably an indication of the way they teach teachers over there. You might have to look at what a teaching degree consists of.
Students learn from teachers and teachers teach what they get taught to teach while they're at uni. If they can get through a teaching degree without knowing their subject area well enough then there is something wrong.
However, you might find that there is a major lack of good teachers over there as well. Whats the pay like? You guys might have a majority of teachers teaching subects they aren't really qualified for That all comes down to how much the government gives a s*** about education.
He he he.

you really can see that problem. People using calculators for basic addition. We are pretty bad but people 3-4 years behind me in school are atrocious. It makes me wonder what is going to happen to get the levels back up again.

If it is anything like what they did to English here. Well now we basically sit 64% of the old paper, and we are marked off that. The system is getting dumbed down so badly!
