how understanding is your boss if you cant make it to work due to a snowstorm

If you drive to work and have no other public transportation to get in,how understanding is your boss when you say that you cant make it into work because of a 8-10 inch snowfall and you dont want to risk a accident. I will be starting a new job next week commuting 12 miles by highway and I am not compfortable driving in a large snowstorm but I dont mind a few inches.

It really depends on the type of person your boss is.
