I think it's terrible. You would have thought being a parent, your best interest is your son's/daughter's happiness not having them resent you for the rest of their life. Very starnge.

It's awful, I really feel sorry for people who has to go through that, but they shouldn't have to.

It's completely wrong. People should have the right to choose for themselves who they wish to spend their life with. It shouldn't be imposed upon them

I agree, I just can't believe how lax the system is there. I thought this stuff died in China 100 years ago! It's definitely a backwards view of making your kids behave, that's for sure.

I think its a very sensationalist piece of news.

Quote:
Councils stress the number reflects pupils who are missing from suitable education and does not necessarily mean any are at risk.

However, the Department of Children, Schools and Families said some of the youngsters may be "at risk of harm".

out of just over 2,000 kids its pretty safe to say that about any children anywhere.

I don't agree that a child should be forced into arranged marriage. They are after all, a child, and should not be engaging in any sex until fully grown. Nor should they be forced into any relationship. It may be religion or culture but any other words for it would be procuring for sex and slavery.

I agree it should be looked into, however i don't think sensationalist reporting gives the matter a fair view and will increase biases against other cultures.

they are saying that in "certain" areas of the UK the chances of them being missing from school because of being forced into marriage are higher than others - for example in bradford it is more likely than say tiverton.

Its like saying that in "certain" areas of the UK children are more likely to be abused by a catholic priest than others or in "certain" areas of the UK children are more likely to be stabbed by the school gate.

Sure, its a serious matter, but this kind of reporting does it no favours.

This is horrible. It is even more horrible that any parent would allow this to happen to their child.

because its just the thought of them poor girls and boys being taken from their home and literally sold,

not all kids missing from school, are being sent away for forced marriage but some are

I remember going to college with a muslim girl who's father was sending her home to marry some cousin, i was really shocked by it all and asked her why she was going along with it, her response was she didnt wanna dishonour her family...wft!

This is not shocking anymore, this happens.

Girls being forced to have there genitals cut out and mutilated for there future husbands is more shocking!
