i was looking up fast food chains around the world and i came up with this list:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fast-food_restaurants#United_States

you'll see that the United States completely beats out both Canada and the UK for tons of fast fod restaurants.
And then people wonder why americans are having an obese problem in this day and age.

hmm..?

I feel that it is not just the fast food chains that are making Americans fat, but the over-processed food sold in most grocery stores as well.

People are now purchasing their meals through drive thru windows and the frozen food sections... quick meals for a busy lifestyle.

To sum it up... people are sacrificing health for convenience.

It's not the fast food chains that are making people obese, it's their laziness.

This is one of the most important contributors... consuming calories that are not burned. People will eat a fast meal consisting of 500-600 calories and sit behind a desk all day... where are the calories going?

Only if they eat half the meal. A meal with a Whopper, Med. fries and a med. drink will give ya, 1230 calories, 67 grams of fat and 106 carbs.

A meal of this size wouldn't be too far out of the question.

I was just giving a best guess estimate and I thought that I was actually a little high... wow.

Using fresh ingredients, I could create a much larger meal that tastes much better... with only a fraction of the calories (that will leave you feeling full but not gross).

That figure is at the "low" end. Most people I know get the large fries, double Whopper.....but they also get a diet coke. I guess that makes up for it.
