A challenge.

Non-Existence as in 'not consciously awake too or aware of anything' (not even dreams) as well as not having to expend energy or act to maintain that state would be EXTREMELY easy.

To exist means to be conscious of oneself and for others to be conscious of you.

Going by that definition I half exist.

Which half?

I'm conscious of myself but I'd be s***ted if most people around me had more of an outgoing, non-linear and unpredictable personality than a Teddy Ruxpin.

Existence is being. Not always seeing, but being. What is it to be? To be detected by others. How do others detect? Using their senses. How we know what our senses detect? Because our brains interpret information gathered via our senses.

Therefore existence is purely in our heads. Nothing is real, only our judgement that it is. So is existence really in existence? Is it a paradox?

OP: What is existence, (i.e. what does it mean for a being to be?)

Question: what is existence?

Richard_Richards: Existence is being.

Richard_Richards: [Existence is] Not always seeing, but being.

Erimitus: Existence is being.

Erimitus: Being is existence.

Erimitus: (Paraphrase) Existence is not necessarily detectable. (i.e. that which exists, exists and continues to exists independent of perception)

Erimitus: (Question) What is being?

Erimitus: (Question) Is there a difference between ‘Being’ and ‘A Being’?

Erimitus: (Question) Are being and existence different terms used to describe the same thing?

Erimitus: (Paraphrase) to be is to be perceptible. Being is perceptible.

Erimitus: (Question) I am confused. Being and existence are the same thing. Being is perceptible. Existence is not necessarily perceptible. Being is perceptible existence but not all existence is perceptible so imperceptible existence is not being. (i.e. has no being.) Is that correct?

Erimitus: I agree but would suggest that even thought all we know is subjective reality we cannot rule out the possibility of an objective reality.

Erimiuts: (Question) to what extent can the senses be trusted?

Richard_Richards: So is existence really in existence?

Erimitus: I am not sure how we could prove physical existence independent of our selves to our selves or to each other but I like to pretend that you exist.

Richard_Richards: Is it a paradox?

Erimitus: As far as I can tell it is all absurdity.

No, because one still exists when not conscious, like when asleep, etc! Wake up!!!
